In the heart of Valais, in the village of Arbaz, Maltis Bracitorium was born—an artisanal brewery founded by Bertrand Mathys. The project originated from a long-standing passion for the world of beer and its craftsmanship. As with many brewers, the first experiments were carried out on a small scale, using a home brewing kit.
For several years, production remained intentionally limited, with batches of around 50 liters. This small scale made it possible to satisfy a close circle while receiving very positive feedback. Faced with growing demand and a production process that was particularly time-consuming, a strategic reflection became necessary: either stop the activity or structure and develop the project. The natural choice was to continue and professionalize the brewery.
The name Maltis Bracitorium was designed to reflect both the identity of the project and its artisanal roots. Maltis refers to the founder’s family name while also evoking malt, the central ingredient of beer. Bracitorium is inspired by an unofficial Latin term referring to a place where beer is produced. Together, the name embodies the very foundations of the brewery.
The Story of the Beer: An Approach Built on Mastery and Time
The brewing process is based on a demanding artisanal approach, where every stage of production is carefully considered. Brewing is not simply about combining ingredients; it requires a deep understanding of balance, reactions, and the resting times necessary for aromas to fully develop.
Each recipe is the result of numerous tests, adjustments, and successive experiments. Mastery of fermentation and carbonation processes makes it possible to produce beers that are stable, consistent, and true to their identity. This constant pursuit of precision aims to offer products that are both approachable and distinctive.
The production philosophy is guided by a clear intention: to prioritize quality over quantity, respect traditional craft methods while integrating modern technical solutions, and create beers capable of telling a story through their flavors.

Creating a Strong Identity Through Graphic Design
The visual identity of Maltis Bracitorium is the result of a close collaboration with a talented young graphic designer, who was contacted from the earliest stages of the project. Starting from deliberately broad guidelines, the designer immediately embraced the brewery’s philosophy and the universe it sought to create.
The graphic concept draws inspiration from the history of beer creation while expressing a clear desire to stand out. A few initial sketches served as the starting point for the brewery’s logo and the definition of its overall identity. The designer then developed all the visuals with great precision, designing each element point by point.
For the bottles, the characteristics of the four beers were shared while leaving complete creative freedom. The chosen concept revolves around animal skeletons associated with Latin names, giving each beer its own identity while maintaining strong visual consistency. After several discussions and refinements, the entire concept was approved.
Digital Printing: A Faithful Reproduction of the Visuals
To faithfully reproduce the richness and precision of the visuals created, the choice of digital printing for customization naturally emerged. This technology is the most suitable solution for accurately translating the graphic designer’s artistic work onto the bottles.
Digital printing preserves every detail, contrast, and nuance while respecting the fineness of the lines and the intensity of the illustrations. It ensures perfect consistency between the graphic design and the final result, giving the bottles a strong, high-quality, and immediately recognizable visual identity.
