The fascinating story of the Schurch family began in 1833, when Auguste Albert Schurch founded the company Schurch & Bonhenblust, which specialised in the sale of viticultural and agricultural machinery.

This tradition of innovation continued through the generations, as demonstrated by son Emile’s innovation with the development of the first hydraulic piston wine presses in 1918. In 1921, the first chasselas wine was made on the Gouttes d’Or plot, marking a milestone in the family’s winegrowing history.

In 1978, under the management of Olivier Schurch, the company took on a new dimension by managing almost all of Switzerland’s wine import quotas. Then, in 2005, a major ecological turning point came with the abandonment of herbicides and insecticides in favour of environmentally-friendly tillage.

In 2011, the family turned to biodynamic viticulture thanks to a training course with Vincent Masson, opening a new chapter in their winemaking practice.

The winery is now run by the latest generation, represented by Michel-Olivier Schurch. After extensive studies in viticulture and oenology in Switzerland and Burgundy, Michel-Olivier Schurch travelled the globe to explore different terroirs and winemaking traditions. With over 27 years’ experience in winemaking and a passion for biodynamic viticulture, he has decided to share his know-how through consulting.

In 2018, the Legend Wine inspiration was born, aiming to magnify the potential of Swiss vineyards.

A masterpiece in glass: when history meets modernity in the “Le Graal” bottle of Pinot noir

The “Le Graal” bottle of Pinot Noir offers a remarkable visual experience, with a silk-screen design wrapping around its entire shape. The baroque accents, subtly worked in platinum and black, add a touch of elegance and refinement. The imposing name “Le Graal”, written in capital letters in platinum, lends a majestic character to the whole. The black ink is subtly rough to the touch, offering a unique tactile experience. At the centre of the bottle, the crest representing the winery, embellished with the same platinum print, testifies to the deep roots in history while looking to the future.

This bottle perfectly embodies the alliance between the winery’s past and modern technologies, opting for direct screen printing on the glass rather than a traditional paper label, marking a perfect fusion between tradition and innovation.
