The Swiss gin market continues to develop and structure itself year after year. While previous editions of DistiSuisse had already marked record levels of participation, the trend has been confirmed with an ever greater diversification of players and products. Gin has established itself as an essential category of Swiss spirits, driven by innovation, creativity and the local roots of distilleries. Switzerland is now firmly part of the international premium gin dynamic.

Swiss gins

We are now evolving in an environment rich in opportunities, marked by digitalization, but also by increased sensitivity to environmental and societal issues. This period is characterized by expectations that are sometimes opposing but complementary. On the one hand, consumers are adopting a more responsible approach, with attention to health, reduced alcohol consumption and sustainability. On the other hand, they are seeking an upgrade in quality, a premiumization of products, where drinking becomes a full experience, emotional and qualitative.

Faced with a constantly accelerating world, consumers are placing more and more importance on authenticity, differentiation and unique experiences. They favor products capable of telling a story, creating a connection and offering real emotional value.

In the beverage industry, this evolution is part of the continuity of the craft movement, now firmly established. Craft beer, wine and spirits continue to appeal to a public in search of meaning and quality. Switzerland, with its strong historical know-how, stands out particularly in this field. Its spirits industry is characterized by its diversity, its authenticity and its high standards, qualities that remain at the heart of its attractiveness and recognition today.

What reactions does a personalised gin bottle provoke in the consumer?

In a market where the offer is increasingly wide, packaging plays a growing role in product perception. The MIS Trend 2025 study commissioned by Univerre on the future of beverage packaging in Switzerland highlights that, for a significant proportion of consumers, packaging directly influences the perception of quality, particularly in the world of wine and spirits.

This evolution confirms that the bottle is no longer limited to a container function. It becomes a key element of differentiation, capable of attracting attention, enhancing the product and strengthening its positioning.

In a saturated environment, consumers are looking for products capable of standing out while inspiring trust. They no longer come only to buy, but to experience something. Authenticity, consistency and perceived quality thus become decisive factors.

The personalised bottle therefore emerges as a strategic lever to meet these new expectations and create a lasting emotional connection with the consumer.

#1 Crystal Gin – The Swiss premium gin with a unique character

Swiss Crystal Gin is distilled in the heart of the Bern Oberland and refined using a special process. After a careful distillation process, the distillate passes over a crystal to finish.

The gin bottle: Rugen Distillery launched the Swiss Crystal Gin on 1 June 2016. The Crystal Gin gin bottle is unmistakable not only because of its shape but also because of its color. Since the distillate runs over a crystal to finish, it was obvious that the gin bottle should resemble a crystal. The color of the gin bottle reflects the purity of a crystal and the product. Univerre Pro Uva SA supported Rugen Distillery from the idea to the development of the gin bottle.

#3  Ima’Gin – The Encounter

IMA’Gin is above all a story of encounters, instinct and passion. Behind this project are Anne Sophie and Gretel, two different but deeply complementary personalities. Their collaboration was built around shared values that today give the project its full dimension: authenticity, respect for nature, conviviality and the pleasure of sharing. IMA’Gin is therefore not simply a gin brand. It is a company that aims to convey a certain vision of alpine life and its simple pleasures.

The gin bottle: Rather than using a traditional label, the choice was made for a label-free bottle, whose design is directly integrated into the glass through screen printing. This technique allows graphic elements to be printed directly onto the bottle, creating a durable and premium result. The screen printing highlights several symbolic elements of the project, including the alpine location, contour lines reminiscent of mountain reliefs, as well as geographic coordinates anchoring the product in its territory.

#4 GinGin – A gin with a unique note!

In the nose, a discreet cocoa note and a light fruit aroma unfold, whereby a mild orange smell dominates. The sweetness and bitterness of the cocoa surround the palate and give the GinGin a unique note. The typical gin aromas as well as the exotic components like the aromas of citrus fruits and coriander stay in the background and provide a nice balance. GinGin is round, perfectly balanced and very palatable. The peculiarity of the gin should be underlined with a light tonic that is as neutral in taste as possible.

The gin bottle: A gin with a unique note needs a unique gin bottle. The gin bottle GinGin was personalized with real gold and 360° around the bottle with different motifs. A real piece of art for every gin or bottle lover.

In recent years, gin has evolved from a traditional spirit to a symbol of innovation and creativity that is revolutionising gastronomy worldwide. This wave of enthusiasm, often referred to as the global gin renaissance, is reflected not only in the variety of flavours and the craftsmanship with which the distillates are produced, but also in the presentation and enjoyment, especially in the choice of the right gin glass. A perfectly designed gin glass is not just a container for the noble drink; it is a key to unfolding the complex flavours and enhancing the enjoyment experience. The specific shape allows it to emphasise the nuances of the gin, from the delicate botanical notes to the subtle hint of juniper, providing a full sensory experience that brings the character of the gin to the fore. The art of gin making and the careful selection of the glass in which it is served is testament to a deep appreciation of quality and enjoyment that defines gin culture today.
