In 2012, during an internship in Quebec, Arnaud Gervaix made a discovery that marked a decisive turning point in his life: Kombucha, a beverage that is highly prized and widely adopted in Canada.

Back in Switzerland after his immersion in Quebec, as part of his studies, Arnaud brought a new passion with him. Settling down in his Lausanne kitchen, he set off like a modern alchemist in search of the perfect elixir!

The origins of Kombucha

The origins of Kombucha are shrouded in mystery and legend, dating back several centuries. It is said that this fermented drink originated in East Asia, notably in China and Japan, thousands of years ago.

Stories even claim that Kombucha was prized at the court of Chinese emperors for its therapeutic properties and its reputation for prolonging life.

This tradition was then passed down from generation to generation, spreading throughout Asia and beyond, until it finally reached Western lands. Today, Kombucha is a beverage appreciated the world over for its unique flavours and health benefits.

The creation of Kombucha

The fascination with Kombucha comes from the way it is made: by fermenting sweet tea using a special culture of bacteria and yeast called Scoby, for “Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast”.

Scoby, which looks like a gelatinous mass, acts like a small ecosystem where bacteria and yeast work together. When Scoby is added to sweet tea, it starts a fermentation process in which micro-organisms transform sugars into acids, alcohols and gases.

This natural transformation gives Kombucha its unique, tangy, fizzy taste, and its health benefits thanks to probiotics and antioxidants.

The main objective was to design a range of products with an attractive and refreshing aesthetic, playing on vibrant colour palettes. The rebrand also involved modernising the logo, which had to be fresh and easy to use.

The idea behind the rebranding was also to make product information easier to read. The aim was to make the labels clearer and more informative, making them easier to understand for consumers looking for transparency and authenticity.
