Spring water in glass bottles

The glass water bottle is a sign of well-being, healthy living and Epicureanism. More than ever, people are talking about spring water, its importance and the best way to package it. There is a growing trend towards customising glass bottles. Today, we have wonderful glass bottles on the market that enhance the value of spring water in an excellent way.

What are the characteristics of spring water?

A genuine mineral water is defined by being bottled at its source in its original purity. The water therefore undergoes no treatment or additions. Indeed, impregnated in the rock, it is already naturally rich in mineral salts and trace elements essential to health. The proportion of calcium, sodium or magnesium therefore depends on the water’s environment.

Assertive positioning with a personalised glass water bottle

Consumers, who are increasingly sensitive to the environment, prefer to drink spring water in glass bottles, as glass is endlessly recyclable. Bottled water producers have understood this and are promoting their range of glass water bottles. Often associated with prestige, personalised glass water bottles stand out especially thanks to their strong positioning. In this way, the bottle becomes a souvenir or a collector’s piece. This is why bottled water producers redesign their bottles frequently by generally proposing a different design every year.

The glass water bottle from Sembrancher SEEMS SA

Introduced in 2008, Sembrancher is the first premium water in the Swiss Alps. Its Valaisan producers are now focusing on a niche market, that of quality, with this unfiltered mineral water with properties that have been recognised for eight hundred years and marketed only in silk-screen-printed glass bottles. This water, steeped in history, is distinguished by its bacteriological purity, its fluorine and magnesium content and its low mineral content. Sembrancher’s water, mainly intended for gourmets, was awarded the silver medal at the International Gourmet Water Competition for the third time in 2019, from among more than seventy mineral waters from twenty countries.

Sembrancher’s glass bottles have an intrinsic shape. This means that the glass bottle has been created and designed for the customer. The glass bottle is characterised by its slender shape, which has been further refined by screen printing. In total, there are two different bottle sizes. Sembrancher’s glass water bottles are sold in 75cl and 37.5cl. The silkscreen printing is distinguished by the fact that the sparkling water is personalised in red and the still water in grey. In order to facilitate recognition of the different bottles in commercial refrigerators, the neck has been personalised with a 360° band in the respective colours.

The glass water bottle from Allegra Passugger Mineralquellen AG

The Passugg spring was discovered in 1863. Passugger is the name of the carbonated water and it is the oldest brand of mineral water in Switzerland. Allegra is the still mineral water that comes from the Allegra spring in Malix in Graubünden. Both are available in 750ml glass bottles, ideal for sophisticated gastronomy. The print was designed by the famous Graubünden architect Valerio Olgiati. The result: a bottle with an unusual, aesthetically sophisticated design that stimulates discussion. A bottle of mineral water that appeals to traditionalists as well as trendy and design-conscious consumers. A bottle that will be remembered.

The two glass bottles from Allegra Passugger Mineralquellen are also specially developed bottle shapes with crown corks. Initially, the glass water bottles with a content of 77cl were launched. Later, the smaller 47cl counterpart was created. The glass bottle of still, non-carbonated water impresses with its calm design. The bottle has been customized 360° in white with the text “Allegra”. The glass bottle of sparkling water, on the other hand, was personalised with a playful silkscreen print around the water bottle to symbolise carbonation. The two bottles of still and sparkling water have a complementary print in a pure and elegant white colour.

The glass water bottle from the City of Lausanne

In Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, only 30% of the inhabitants are connected to the water network. Lausanne and 22 other municipalities are involved in a partnership to improve access to water for the most disadvantaged populations. Since 2009, for each m3 of water sold to consumers, the city has donated 1ct to Nouakchott. To mark the 10th anniversary of the solidarity programme for access to water in Mauritania, the Water Department has adopted a new 1-litre “lemonade” bottle. The new visual was created by Margot Tissot, an illustrator and graphic designer from Lausanne. For each personalised glass bottle of water purchased, CHF 5.00 are donated in full to the solidarity programme for Mauritania!

The glass bottle of the city of Lausanne has an elaborate silkscreen print. This reflects the spirit of Mauritania with a colourful print.

The glass water bottle from Tschuggen Hotel Group AG

The Tschuggen Hotel Group AG decided to create beautiful glass water bottles for the opening of the new Valsana Hotel & Apartments complex in 2017. The hotel is a superior 4* hotel that focuses on quality, well-being and sustainability. With this in mind, it seemed obvious to offer guests first-class spring water. This is why the spring water from the Arosa region is packaged in personalised, reusable glass bottles.

Tastefully decorated and focused on design and refinement, the hotel has developed a range of three still and three sparkling water bottles. All have a different design that is very modern, colourful and complementary. The water bottles are given a 360° personalisation around each bottle and these evoke nature, music and design. These glass bottles are bottles of the Bordeaux type BVS28H60 with a capacity of 75 cl.
